ちょっとmikanの英語学習に飽きてきている
Mikanをほぼ毎日やっているのだけれど、ちょっと飽きてきた。これは多分教材のセレクトの問題。最初は中学校高校の英単語を復習していたのだけれど、そればっかりもどうかなと思って、それよりレベルの高そうな「世界一わかりやすいTOEICテストの英単語」というテキストをやってみた。
これをやってみると知らない単語が多かったので、かなり勉強になるなと思って最初は楽しかった。それがだんだんと「これどこで使うのかなー」とか。その言葉を使用するシチュエーションがどうも見えなくて。いよいよ暗記作業になってしまった。そういう勉強として、意味はある。ただなんだろう、楽しくない。
あらためてなんでmikanやってるのか考えてみた。TOEICテストで合格したいからじゃない。これは明確にわかる。ということはこのテキストではなかった。英語をy喋るようにというアバウトな目標があるが、それよりも「英語が読めるようになりたい、聞けるようになりたい」これが自分の動機だということが明確にわかってきた。
なのでちょっとTOEICのテキストは放っておいて（といっても苦手があと40語で終了になるので、これはこれで終わらせたい）もうちょっと単語でなくフレーズで学習できる教材に変更してみる。mikanがつまらないとかダメとか、そういうことではなかった。あくまでテキストとゴールのミスマッチ。
最近Apple Arcadeの「Wylde Flowers」ってゲームをやっててめっちゃ面白いんだけど、これがフルボイスのゲームで、英語でいろいろ喋ってる。字幕は日本語なんだけど、その日本語をみながら集中して聞いてるだけでも面白い。この感じが楽しい。
そう思っていたら、新しいアイディアが生まれた。この日記。この日記をDeepLで英語に変換したら、また新しい発見や楽しみがあるのではないか。それが翻って英単語の興味につながるのではないか。
